ATTENTION: WinkWorld Readers RE: BOUNCE-BACKS - Check your "Junk" settings. It is normal for school districts to have internet filters which block unknown messages. In addition, teachers often give us only their .edu email. Because of this, we receive bounce-backs from many teachers, who then wonder why they are not receiving this newsletter. I try to find/contact each person who has a bounce-back, but I have limited success. Please contact news@joanwink.com if you would like to supply a 2nd email address. |
WinkWorld February 2003
Hello Friends, in our last issue of WinkWorld, we mentioned Dean's election as Meade County Commissioner, a description of a typical day on the ranch as I write, and some thoughts on homework, which were initiated by a student who is doing her thesis on homework. Since last month I have driven from SD to NM to AZ to NV to CA. It was a Thelma/Louise experience. However, I was alone, so I made sure to enjoy it enough for two. In addition, Dawn and I sent off the manuscript for Passionate Pedagogy. Of course, there is still more to do, but it is moving along at a good pace. This month I will share a quotation from the past which still rings true for Prairie Pedagogy, and I will continue with comments on homework. My friend, Jill Kerper Mora, (jmora@mail.sdsu.edu ) will prod your critical reflections on the loss of local control in public education. |
