It is normal for school districts to have internet filters which block unknown messages. In addition, teachers often give us only their .edu email. Because of this, we receive bounce-backs from many teachers, who then wonder why they are not receiving this newsletter. Putting the HOME back in Homework Packets by Andrea Katotakis
You may recall our previous discussion http://www.joanwink.com/charts.php on ways of making homework meaningful. Andrea Katotakis initiated these thoughts as she prepared to collect data for her MA thesis on the effects of homework intervention with students in a 5th grade class. In the spirit of Alma Flor Ada, Andrea created packets, which are, not only meaningful, but also involve students with their extended family members. We are sharing these with the hope that you can use and/or adapt them in your own context. Andrea (katotakis@aol.com) and I will be happy to hear how this approach to homework works for you.
