RE: BOUNCE-BACKS - Check your "Junk" settings.
It is normal for school districts to have internet filters which block unknown messages. In addition, teachers often give us only their .edu email. Because of this, we receive bounce-backs from many teachers, who then wonder why they are not receiving this newsletter. I try to find/contact each person who has a bounce-back, but I have limited success. Please contact news@joanwink.com if you would like to supply a 2nd email address.

The Birthing of a Baby Buffalo

Sad story. Dean and the neighbor worked for several hours trying to help the mama buffalo deliver her baby successfully. However, the baby was still born. The men finally succeeded in getting the dead baby buffalo out of the mama, but I suspect some of the details are far more realistic than you really need to know. I am aware that when people read Linda Hasselstrom, they are prepared for paragraphs and pages of some of the messy realities of ranch life, and I am happy that she records this rapidly vanishing way-of-life, but for now, I am not prepared to write all of the details. I will only say that the men and mama buffalo are exhausted and covered with dreadful stuff. We are all hoping that the mama buffalo will recover. She is small. The calf was large.
