ATTENTION: WinkWorld Readers RE: BOUNCE-BACKS - Check your "Junk" settings. It is normal for school districts to have internet filters which block unknown messages. In addition, teachers often give us only their .edu email. Because of this, we receive bounce-backs from many teachers, who then wonder why they are not receiving this newsletter. I try to find/contact each person who has a bounce-back, but I have limited success. Please contact news@joanwink.com if you would like to supply a 2nd email address. |

Pam Franklin ABSTRACT Standing firmly on the review of the relevant literature which shows that parent involvement, even to the extent of homeschooling, is not a new phenomena in the world of education, this study began with the premise that some parents can and will choose to take full responsibility of their child(ren)'s education by homeschooling. The original intent of this study was to share the narrative history of the researcher's nineteen years of homeschooling documented by two extensive correspondences and the student files. The data was read to identify the various threads, sorted and recorded. Due to unexpected interaction with the data, the researcher was not willing to tell the story in the confines of a thesis. The data analysis reveals the threads of information that presented themselves and their effects upon the researcher which led to a shift in the focus of the study. The study shows the homeschooling voice as a minority and marginalized voice that deserves acknowledgement and recognition of the commitment of these families in this educational alternative for their child(ren). |
