The Real World: Things They Don't Tell You About Cancer.

• Your nose runs.
• It hurts when your hair falls out, and it hurts again when it grows back in. The word, hurts, might be a bit strong, but very sensitive for sure.
• Every chemical, which saves your life, has an annoying side effect.
• Insurance is a lifesaver for me.
• However, insurance is hard on the world. If everyone who has insurance gets as many forms weekly as I do, we are in serious trouble ecologically.
• The surgery, oncology, radiology people are angels.*

Update on Research Nomination
Thank you to those of you who used your valuable time to write a letter of support for me. The portfolio is safely sitting on my Dean's desk and will go to the university committee next week. I do not know their schedule, and I do not know who is on this committee. I predict we'll have the results in about a month. When I put this portfolio together, I did question why I was doing this? However, now that I'm finished I see that I have a nice coffee table book for the grandkids to explore some day.

What is a portfolio?
A portfolio is a systematic, purposeful, and dynamic collection of artifacts of a learner's demonstrated abilities. A portfolio provides a wide range and broad variety of samples in order to show the depth and breath of productive activities. The creation of a portfolio is on-going and provides an opportunity for self-evaluation and self-reflection. In the process of creating a portfolio, a learner has the opportunity to experience ownership, and the reader has the opportunity to understand more completely the productivity of one person.
