Loved these stories of learning to read. I do not recall exactly how I learned to read, but growing up youngest of 9 on a farm in Indiana, my next older brother read the entire Encylopedia Britannica that some traveling salesmen sold to our mom. Most of it he read to me! So I am pretty sure Eddie would say he taught me to read. Joan’s book is amazing, by the way!!

Love this book and love to read! One of my kids was a parts to whole reader; the other the opposite, but both live to read today!

Hi Sharon, the best part of retirement is reading, right?

Sounds like an amazing book. I learned to read with Phonics (Milesville country school), so it’s interesting that you share the difference in learning to read. I’ll be on the lookout for your book. The quilt on your wall is beautiful.

It was great to see you again, Joan! I had actually given this book as a graduation present to a couple of students who were in our doctoral study group.
